Question:

Loan Periods & Borrowing Terms

Our answer:

All active FSU students, staff, or faculty can request materials through the FSU Libraries online catalog and borrow materials in person at the Scholar Support Desks in Strozier, Dirac, and Engineering with their FSU ID card.

If you're a current FSU student, staff, or faculty member and you forget your FSUID card, you're still allowed to check out materials in Strozier, Dirac, and Engineering! Just make sure you have a photo ID on you and know your FSUID (the unique alpha-numeric combination before the @ in your email).

Current students, faculty, and staff at Florida Community Colleges and Public Universities are granted borrowing privileges, but must have current University ID.

The loan period of a book depends on your status, for FSU owned items.

General collection books are loaned for:

  • 4 weeks to undergraduates
  • 8 weeks for graduate students and staff
  • 16 weeks for faculty

If you are affiliated with another State of Florida University, your loan period for books is slightly different:

  • 3 weeks for students
  • 6 weeks for staff
  • 16 weeks for faculty

If you are affiliated with a Florida Community College, the loan periods are slightly different as well:

  • 3 weeks for students
  • 6 weeks for faculty and staff.

For UBorrow and ILL, loan periods are determined by the loaning institution. For more information, visit Interlibrary Loan and UBorrow.
