Question:

Why was my ILL request cancelled?

Our answer:

While the Resource Sharing team will make every effort to fill requests, there are times when materials can't be acquired through Interlibrary Loan. When this happens, you will receive an email notification with the reason why your request was cancelled.

Below is a table with explanations for each reason for cancellation:

 Reason for Cancellation

 What it Means

 Available In Stacks

The requested item is available at FSU and physically on our shelves. A link should be in the cancellation email you received that directs you to the record for the item in the FSU OneSearch catalog, where you can see the call number or place a request for it. If you have trouble accessing these items, please respond to the email.

Available Online  The requested item is available at FSU digitally. A link should be in the cancellation email you received that directs you to the record for the item in the FSU OneSearch catalog where you should be able to access it online with your FSU credentials. If you have trouble accessing these items, please report the link in Primo and respond to the email.

Unavailable via the Interlibrary Loan Process

Unfortunately, the requested item can’t be borrowed from another library. This could mean that there aren’t many copies available at other libraries, or that the copies at those libraries are already checked out.

 Page Limits

The number of pages requested exceeds the limit for sharing through ILL. Try resubmitting a smaller amount for a scan, such as one chapter per request, or suggesting a purchase for the libraries’ collection.

 This is a duplicate request

You have placed another request for an item that you’ve recently borrowed.

NOTE: If you need multiple items that share the same title, contact Resource Sharing staff to ensure your request can be processed.

 Available Free Online

This item is available online for free viewing.

 Referral to Subject Specialist

The request has been forwarded to the Subject Librarian in your department for assistance with obtaining this material, as it is unavailable through Interlibrary Loan.

 Additional Information

There was either insufficient or incorrect information entered in the request, so Resource Sharing was unable to process it. Revise the request and resubmit it for processing.
